The 2025 event, which took place on 4th February, saw technology leaders in the telco and cloud space gather virtually to gain fresh insights from global leaders including Huawei, CTZ, Cognizant, Orange, T Systems, Virgin Media, and Equinix.
Here’s a glimpse of what we experienced:
Cloud & 5G: Fueling Each other’s Growth
Cloud and 5G are transforming industries by enabling seamless information exchange and real-time data processing, and as businesses are increasingly realizing the benefits in enhanced speed and efficiency, challenges limit the potential to achieve capabilities across the sectors.
This discussion, led by Rohit Sinha, Global Head Cloud & Modernisation Practice at Genpact, discussed how the importance of cloud and 5G together are unlocking new possibilities across industries. Investigating more into the journey from a disconnected world to one where information is not only exchanged but also processed and made available in real time.
The path from fixed line services, from dial up to high-speed broadband (through cable and fiber optics) has driven the need for a more interconnected world. While we are still in the information era, the last decade has seen significant focus on data utilization and monetization, both fueled by cloud and AI. Hardware capacity is doubling every two years, and demand for data processing continually increases, but most data is still being processed near real time.
What makes the unthinkable possible with Cloud and 5G’s combination is revolutionising industries that are now processing previously unattainable processing capabilities. For the automobile industry, vehicle-to-vehicle, vehicle-to-network, and vehicle-to-infrastructure communication are all improving road safety, with a 4.4% decrease in crashes within the first nine month of implementation. Cloud and 5G are powering better home internet solutions and enabling private 5G networks for businesses, and in the manufacturing sector, just-in-time inventory management and real time fault control are driving efficiency.
But what’s the next step for the future? As mobile networks continue to evolve, their impact on connectivity and efficiency will rise. The merge of Cloud and 5G together are in the early stages of unlocking their full potential and as adoption grows, businesses must rethink their strategies to fully leverage data processing.
As we listened to the discussion, our takeaway was that the future will be defined by faster, smarter, and more connected industries. As Rohit Sinha said: “The evolution of mobile networks, it’s going to increase speed and use cases, but we have barely started seeing with cloud and 5G can do together”.
GenAI and Sovereign Clouds: Innovation vs Control
Cloud transformation is reshaping the strategy of enterprises on optimising cost, sovereignty, and accelerating AI. Businesses are increasingly focusing on financial optimisation, sovereign cloud models, and the evolving role of GenAI.
In his keynote, Richard Simon, CTO Cloud Transformation at T-Systems, shared his over 35 years of experience in the industry, and his insights into some of the significant trends in cloud economics, AI-driven transformation, and the rise of sovereign clouds.
Generative AI adoption is in its early stages, with less than 10% of enterprises having GenAI platforms. However, 50% are actively exploring it, and only 9% have GenAI in production. The emergence of Agentic AI, where AI operates autonomously, are shaping the next phase of enterprise AI.
As GenAI is driving demand, sovereign cloud adoption is expanding beyond regulated industries, and public sector organisations, particularly GovCloud users, finance, and healthcare sectors, are leading this shift. The key aspects of sovereign cloud include:
- Technology sovereignty that ensure control and independence over design, and uses Opensource and/or locally developed solutions to cover location, hardware, and software.
- Operational sovereignty to maintain full control over the executive and management of key ops processes and ensuring availability of cloud services.
- Data sovereignty enforces regulatory compliance, keeping data within national or geopolitical boundaries for full ownership.
This session showed how enterprises must develop strategies that balance cost, compliance, and performance as GenAI and sovereign cloud adoption evolve. AI-driven transformation demands adaptable cloud strategies, and ensuring security and responsiveness is vital in our digital world.
As part of its work, Spa was tasked with supporting in the promotion of this industry event within influential individuals and press.
“Cloud & 5G Live has now been recognised as a cornerstone conference for the telecom and cloud industries, and we’re thrilled to collaborate with Bizclik Media to expand its reach among key opinion leaders in the industry”, said Charlotte Wood, Account Director, Spa Communications. “This conference is delivering even greater value to its audience, sponsors, and participants, creating a lasting impact both now and moving forward.”
