Sustainability is at the core of everything Kao Data stands for. In July 2021 we took a further step towards our Net Zero ambitions by becoming the UK’s first data centre to transition all back-up generators at our Harlow campus to HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) fuel. This pioneering move, made possible by partnering with Crown Oil, enabled us to reduce our net CO2 emissions from our generators by 90% and significantly reduced nitrogen oxide, particulate matter and carbon monoxide emissions.
